Welcome to Gold Pan!   We are located in South Central Colorado in the town of Platoro (elevation 9,800 feet).   A vacationer's paradise nestled in the Rio Grande National Forest and surrounded by the San Juan Wilderness.  Founded in the late 1800's as a mining town, Platoro is a combination of the Spanish words for silver (Plata) and gold (Oro).  Both were once mined in this picturesque mountain setting.  Today, the treasures of the upper Conejos River canyon are the vast mountain peaks (ranging from 9,000 feet to over 13,000 feet), numerous trails lakes and streams.  The highest manmade reservoir in North America, is the Platoro Reservoir at 10,034 feet.

We accept cash, check, debit, or credit (MC, Visa, Discover), for the RV Park, General Store, Cabins
& Gold Nugget Cafe.  (No CC for Family Cabin).

GOLD PAN is home to the Annual "4th of July" Picnic, over 400 attendees in 2011.  The town of Platoro also offers a parade.

"Fred Hargrove", Cowboy Entertainer, Poet, Singer, Songwriter will be entertaining at the "Gold Nugget Cafe".
